Member Terms
Effective November 1, 2026. These terms are an agreement between you and Captain Cruise LLC, doing business as DIY Travel Agent. By buying a membership or booking with our credentials, you agree to them.
The short version. You pay $19.99 once. You book travel as an independent sub-agent under our agency credentials. When a supplier pays commission on your eligible booking, you get 80% and the agency keeps 20%. You must report each booking in the portal within 7 days. No supplier is required to pay commission, and we can't guarantee any earnings.
1. Definitions
- Agency, we, us: Captain Cruise LLC, doing business as DIY Travel Agent.
- Member, you: the person who bought a membership.
- Supplier: a cruise line, hotel, tour operator, insurer or other travel company listed in the member portal.
- Credentials: the agency CLIA number, agency phone number and any other identifiers we give you to book.
- Paid Commission: the commission a supplier actually pays to the Agency on a booking, after any supplier deductions, adjustments or recalls.
- Eligible Booking: a booking you made or transferred using the Credentials, reported in the portal as these terms require, on which the supplier pays commission.
2. Membership
- Membership costs a one-time fee of $19.99. There are no renewals or monthly fees.
- "Lifetime" means for as long as DIY Travel Agent operates the member portal, unless your membership ends under section 11.
- Your membership is personal. You may not share your access code, portal access or the Credentials with anyone else.
- You may request a full refund of the membership fee within 14 days of purchase if you have not reported any bookings. After that, the fee is non-refundable except where the law requires otherwise.
3. Your relationship with the Agency
- You are an independent contractor and sub-agent. You are not an employee, partner, franchisee or joint venturer of the Agency.
- You have no authority to sign contracts, make promises or take on obligations for the Agency.
- You control how and when you book. There are no quotas and no requirement to recruit anyone.
- You may not present yourself as an owner, officer or employee of the Agency, or use the DIY Travel Agent or Captain Cruise LLC name in advertising without our written permission.
4. Commission split
- You receive 80% of the Paid Commission on each Eligible Booking. The Agency keeps the remaining 20%.
- The split applies to the commission the Agency actually receives, not to the rate a supplier advertises. Commission percentages shown in the portal are estimates and may change at any time.
- If a supplier pays no commission on a booking, including because it does not pay commission on an agent's personal travel, no commission is owed to you.
- Override commissions, bonuses, marketing funds or incentives a supplier pays to the Agency on overall volume, and not on a specific booking, are not Paid Commission and are not shared.
- Example: on a booking with a $9,500 commissionable fare where the supplier pays 10%, the Paid Commission is $950. Your share is $760 and the Agency keeps $190. This is an example only.
5. Reporting bookings
- You must report each booking in the member portal's booking log within 7 days of confirming it, including the supplier, confirmation number, traveler name, travel date and commissionable fare.
- For a booking you transfer to the Agency, report it within 7 days of the supplier confirming the transfer.
- We match supplier payments to reported bookings. If you report a booking late or with wrong details, we will make a reasonable effort to match it, but we are not responsible for commission we cannot identify as yours.
- Tell us promptly about any change or cancellation to a reported booking.
6. When and how you get paid
- We pay your share within 30 days after the end of the calendar month in which the Agency receives the Paid Commission.
- We pay by ACH bank transfer or another method we offer. You must give us accurate payment details and a completed IRS Form W-9 (or the equivalent for your country) before we can pay you.
- If your unpaid share is under $25, we may hold it until your balance reaches $25, or pay it with the next payment cycle.
- Suppliers set their own payment timing. Cruise lines often pay after final payment or after sailing; hotels often pay after checkout. We are not responsible for a supplier's late payment or failure to pay.
7. Cancellations and recalls
- If a booking is cancelled, refunded or changed and the supplier reduces or takes back commission, your share is reduced to match.
- If we already paid you a share that a supplier later takes back, we may deduct that amount from your future payments or ask you to repay it within 30 days.
8. Using the Credentials
- Use the Credentials only to book real travel for yourself, your family, friends or clients.
- Follow each supplier's rules, including its policies on agent bookings, personal travel, transfers and agent rates.
- Give suppliers accurate information. Never misrepresent who you are, who is traveling or the Agency's relationship with you.
- You may not sell, publish or share the Credentials or the supplier list, or use them for fake, speculative or duplicate bookings.
- Agent rates, familiarization (FAM) trips and other industry offers are at each supplier's discretion. Membership does not guarantee them.
9. Licensing, taxes and compliance
- You are responsible for following the laws that apply to you, including any seller-of-travel registration rules in your state, such as those in California, Florida, Hawaii, Iowa and Washington.
- You are responsible for your own taxes on commission you receive. We may issue tax forms, such as Form 1099-NEC, as the law requires.
- Membership does not, by itself, make you a licensed travel agent.
10. No earnings guarantee
Earnings shown on the site are examples, not promises. What you earn depends on what you book, each supplier's rules and whether suppliers pay. Many members may earn little or nothing.
11. Ending your membership
- You may stop using the membership at any time.
- We may suspend or end your membership if you break these terms, misuse the Credentials, act fraudulently, or if a supplier complains about your conduct. If the end of your membership is for fraud or misuse of the Credentials, we may withhold commission connected to that conduct.
- Otherwise, your share of Paid Commission on Eligible Bookings reported before your membership ended will still be paid under section 6.
- If we stop operating DIY Travel Agent, we will give members at least 30 days' notice by email and pay shares owed on bookings already reported.
12. Liability
- Suppliers, not the Agency, provide the travel. We are not responsible for a supplier's acts, omissions, delays, cancellations or failure to pay commission.
- The portal, supplier list and guides are provided "as is." Phone numbers and rates can change, and we do not guarantee they are complete or current.
- To the extent the law allows, the Agency's total liability to you under these terms is limited to the greater of the membership fee you paid or the commission shares owed to you in the 12 months before the claim.
- You agree to cover the Agency's losses, including reasonable legal fees, that result from your breach of these terms or your misuse of the Credentials.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We will post the new version here and email members at least 30 days before a change to the commission split takes effect. A change applies only to bookings reported after it takes effect.
14. General
- Arizona law governs these terms. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts in Maricopa County, Arizona.
- If part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
- These terms are the whole agreement between you and the Agency about membership.
